What Is Field of View (FOV)?

Field of view (FOV) is the extent of the observable world seen at any given moment. In gaming, FOV determines how much of the game world is visible on screen. It is measured in degrees and calculated based on your monitor's physical width and how far you sit from it.

The formula is: FOV = 2 x atan(monitor width / (2 x viewing distance)) x (180 / PI)

FOV Classifications
